Best Leather Conditioner For Cars

Leather interior brings a certain elegance and a luxurious feel to any vehicle. Its desirability can have an impact on both price and perceived quality. Even if you find it an unnecessary perk for yourself, it’s a feature you’ll want to have for resale value. Keeping it in good condition with these simple products will be a sure way to maximize your profits in the end.

Not For Everyone

There are many reasons some car owners prefer fabric interiors over leather. I have owned a few myself and must admit there are genuine benefits. They are much more adaptable to extreme heat or cold weather conditions. They are easy to vacuum and require virtually no products to maintain. Fabric is also great for work trucks or vehicles where dirt, oily clothes, and equipment could damage the leather.

It’s Not Always About You

The case for fabric seats over leather makes sense in many utilitarian vehicles. Understanding your market ahead of time will ensure you make the best decision and plan your exit strategy accordingly. Your future buyer will be someone looking for a good bargain and will assess the vehicle based on mileage and condition. If your price is reasonable the deal will go through.

In 2008 I purchased an Infinity G37S with all the bells and whistles. Back then, backup cameras had only been around for 3 or 4 years and definitely not considered standard equipment. I felt they were completely unnecessary and bordering on insulting. I didn’t feel like they provided any value. I was an expert at backing up and had done it by using my mirrors for years. The $3500 dollar price tag represented almost 11% of the sale price. I found it absurd.

By the time I placed the car on the market for 4 years later, backup cameras became standard in most new vehicles. The low mileage and reasonable price point would have meant nothing. Buyers would’ve felt like the car was missing something that everyone else had for free. A new bar had been set and I would’ve missed out on big bucks.

The reason I told you this quick story and how it relates to leather seats is this. When it comes to selling or trading in your vehicle, you want to stack the odds in your favor. You won’t know what features a particular individual is going to value most. You also won’t know the driving force behind their want to purchase the vehicle. Offering more features than your competitor is your best bet to maximizing profits.

Leather Interior Care

I dedicated a whole post to proper leather care tips and tricks. If you haven’t done so, take a few minutes to give it a read. I made it very clear that no leather care routine is complete without first cleaning it. I hear too many car owners talk about leather conditioners as the only necessary step towards leather protection. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, without first cleaning the leather, you are wasting your money. Conditioners, oils, butter, or any other concoctions won’t penetrate through the dirt and grime to reach your leather’s surface. It will provide a purely superficial clean that you will end up wearing on your clothes.

Best Leather Products

I like to keep my product selection simple and to the point when it comes to the interior of my vehicles. I hate marketing tactics and gimmicky wording designed to trick me into buying multiple products. I take best car leather conditioner reviews with a grain of salt and try the products out for myself. I will assume you do as well and aim to simplify this process. You will need a cleaning solution and a leather conditioner. That’s it!

A word of caution. Any leather cleaner or conditioner should be TESTED IN AN OUT OF SIGHT AREA FIRST. Can’t stress this enough. I’ve achieved great results with products that others have had problems with in the past. I don’t have an answer for it so keep this in mind. Professional detailers and dealerships all follow this procedure as no product is guaranteed to be 100% safe for your leather.
